This signature No 14 Bourbon cocktail was suggested by our friends at Boston Harbor Hotel’s Rowes Wharf Bar. Next time your in Boston, stop by Rowes and order one.

The Basics

A smash is kind of like a mojito… The basic components start with bourbon, combined with something sweet, and something acid, and finished with a mixer and garnish.

Mixology

We love this cocktail because it’s not too sweet. A traditional mash will have a good bit of sweetner in it – such as simple syrup or agave syrup. We recommend trying it without any added sweetner. The blackberries are quite floral with just a touch of sweet, and you might find this enough. If you do want to add a sweetner, try just a small splash of pure Vermont maple syrup.
