spritzer martini glass

If you’re in the mood for a slightly sunnier, a little less bitter version of a negroni, this is for you. Coppers Sugarwood Gin is just on the sweeter side with amped up botanical notes that take the edge off the typical bitterness in a negroni.

The Basics

The famous 1:1:1 ratio cocktail that makes anyone look ten times classier.

Mixology

A negroni is the perfect balance of sweet, bitter and herbal. It’s also super simple to make. Long time negroni drinkers will likely have their own perfect ratio, but traditionally it’s mixed with equal portions of gin, Campari and sweet vermouth. Coppers Sugarwood Gin gives the sweet vermouth a little bump and dampens the bitter of the Campari ever so slightly, allowing your palate to more fully experience the orange peel botanicals and wild Vermont junipers in the gin.

Coppers Sugarwood Negroni

Elements

  • 2 ounces Coppers Sugarwood Gin
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1 ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • Orange twist

Instructions

Combine gin, vermouth and campari over ice in a mixing glass. Stir until well chilled. Strain over new ice in a rocks glass. Serve with (flamed) orange twist.

(If you’re enjoying this one in the heat, pour over one large ice cube, rather than several small cubes.)
